Below is a sample of recent projects we have created – each completely unique, demonstrating the different ways in which driveways and patios can be laid

Project-1
Something a bit different. This patio is made up of three sizes of paving slabs. The railway sleepers are a good way to keep the soil back and look great. Lot’s of digging out to get down to level ground. The hardcore was levelled and compacted. The sharp sand went in and cement added. Compacted again to make a very solid base for the slabs to be layed on. I’ve been looking forward to this patio. The customers and I agree that it looks great.
Project-2
Sometimes after laying a patio or a driveway I get asked to do another job for them. This time it’s turfing the rest of the garden. It’s nice to take the development of the customers garden to the next stage. Other turf layers might not be as fussy. But I wanted to do it properly and be proud of the finished look. Levelled off the original soil which was of poor quality. Reset the rails and laid two tons of good quality top soil with fertiliser mixed in over the top of that. I’m very pleased with the level garden. The customers are too. It just needs to be kept well watered for the next few weeks and then regularly watered through the summer months. I’ll be looking forward to the pictures of the garden once it’s been planted with shrubs etc.
Project-3
The paving is going down over the concrete paths as well as the extra areas I’ve dug out. The extra areas have been topped up with hardcore to a depth of approx 5 inches giving a sound base. Slabs laid in a staggered pattern make the patio more interesting. A few half’s to be cut though but well worth the effort.
The edging will be completed with planting in the borders, once spring returns and it gets warmer.
Project-4
Within about four hours the front garden was dug out. Roughly 20+ tons of waste soil and concrete are gone. Type 1 hardcore going in place as a sub base. The driveway is whacked, sanded and whacked down again
The effect of mixing the bracken blocks with brindle works really well. The unusual double charcoal border with bracken in-between gives it a unique look.
The colour of the blocks really show up vibrantly after it’s rained
Project-5
This project involves a block paved driveway incorporating a radius curve using keycurb blocks and a picket fence.
A new line of drainage channels have been laid in place across the front of the property. The first bay was then screeded and compacted before finally screeded again. The blocks have been laid in a herringbone pattern 45 degrees to the front of the house. There is also a charcoal border laid in a soldier course pattern.
The driveway was whacked then the jointing sand brushed on the whacker goes over the driveway for the final time. Between the curve and the new fence there will be slate chippings laid over a weed proof membrane.
A membrane has been layed under the slate chippings to finish off the area between the fence and the driveway. Another very happy customer.
